In what has become one of the most popular marathons in the world, this year's Napa Valley Marathon attracted a record-breaking 6,000 entrants. Our big winter storms, bringing long-overdue rains, cleared-up just long enough, on Sunday March 5, for runners to complete the 26-mile course from Calistoga along scenic Silverado Trail to Napa. A lingering white blanket of snow from our rare winter snowstorm can be seen on Napa Valley's hills behind the runners.

The Marathon is a qualifier for Boston and last year's women's winner, Ann Centner of Florida, finished in first place for the second year in a row, with a time of 2:43! Nicholas Spector of Sonoma, won the men's division with a time of 2:18 - both posting Olympic-caliber times despite the wet conditions and a cloudburst of hail near the finish line!

The Napa Valley Marathon brings visitors from around the country and around the world, who enjoy early spring in wine country during their stay. Yellow mustard in the vineyards, cherry and magnolia blossoms keep things scenic for Marathon enthusiasts and supporters to drop-in at one of the area's boutique wineries!
