Wine Country Water Towers

Icons dotting the wine country landscape include enclosed water towers, which used to supply gravity-fed water to farms and households throughout the region in the 1800s and early 1900s. Windmills operated pumps to lift well water into a cistern located at the top of each tower. Today, many of these unique structures have been lovingly restored and converted into offices and guest rooms. This water tower appears on the Silver Oaks Cellars label and is located at their new, LEED-certified winery facility in beautiful Alexander Valley, a few minutes north of Napa Valley.
